Death of Grand Master Guillaume de Beaujeu


A member of a powerful Beaujolais family, Guillaume de Beaujeu entered the Knights Templar around 1250, becoming Grand Master in 1273.

In 1291, Guillaume de Beaujeu, supreme commander of the Knights Templar, died during the Siege of Acre, one of the first confrontation of the Third Crusade and the last chapter of crusading history in the Middle East.
