Old Bridge

The Old Bridge is one of the entries to the historic center of Tomar, connecting with the most recent area of the city and part of the journey of any visitor. From here, it is possible to admire the Templar Castle and Convent of Christ and all the surrounding nature, the Nabão river, the Mouchão Park and the Industrial Heritage of the Levada – recently rehabilitated –, as well as the street Rua Serpa Pinto.

Over time, it underwent several restoration and improvement works – as in 1480 and 1550 – and, in 1710, King D. João V ordered the construction of a statue of São Cristóvão, whose stone dust was, according to popular belief, miraculous. which eventually led to its destruction. Today, it is an idyllic setting for photography lovers and the perfect place to discover Tomar.
